Introduction
Hi, on this page I'll provide free short stories and sample chapters from some books I've written over the years. All stories are Copyright Martin Brady.
The Trees Of Life
The first free story is called 'The Trees of Life' and is Science Fiction. The story won the 'Aishling Gheal' award in Ireland from the Irish Science Fiction Association. Personally, it's one of my favourites.
Spore is a horror story in which gangsters get more than they bargained for when they dispose of a corpse by digging up an old grave.
StrictlyFriends
Strictly Friends is a fiction story of teenage friends returning from a Gaelteacht (a place where Irish is taught) on a train back to Dublin.
Paul is an aging college professor who is feeling his mortality. As a younger man he worked on reforming an ancient manuscript many regarded as a Black Bible. He is sidelined in his University and the stress all but kills his wife. As he grows closer to his end, powerful forces emerge drawing the manuscript from him, offering him in return all that he had lost.
The Most Deadly Creature In The Universe
Charlie Spackler is an Intergalactic Trash Collector who meets The Most Deadly Creature in The Universe. What more can I say? Here are the first two Chapters of the book.
One of the other aspects of Creative Writing I really like is when people read the work and (sometimes) connect with it and give me a drawing.
